This label effectively improves the chemical fume hood safety for less operating cost, thus reducing the laboratory's carbon footprint.
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a typical six-foot fume hood exhausting air at 100 linear feet per minute (LFM) drains almost 1.5 million cubic feet of conditioned air daily. This label works best with variable air volume (VAV) fume hood systems in a high fume-hood density building.
The label reminds lab scientists to keep the panel doors closed when the hood is not in use, thus increasing the lab's safety and reducing energy costs.
